Prayer of the Angel of Portugal (Fatima) 天使的祈禱(花地瑪)

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You!
I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore,
do not hope, and do not love You!
Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
I adore You profoundly,
and I offer You the Most Precious Body, Blood,
Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ,
present in all the tabernacles of the world,
in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences
by which He Himself is offended.
And, through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart,
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I beg the conversion of poor sinners.

*To make reparation for the sacrileges committed against the Eucharist, pray the Angel’s Prayer before receiving Holy Communion and frequently throughout the day.

In 1916, the year before the famous apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal (1917), an angel visited the three children with whom Mary would communicate: Lucia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco Marto and Jacinta Marto.

The Angel prepared the children for the miracles they would witness the following year, including talking with Mary and witnessing the Miracle of the Sun during Her last apparition in Fatima.

The Angel first appeared to Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta during the summer of 1916, when they were outside herding sheep.

A strong wind started to blow around some olive trees, and an angel appeared above them, gradually moving down to the ground.

Later, Lucia would recall the scene and describe the Angel as “a handsome young man of 14 or 15, whiter than snow, which appeared in the sun's rays to be transparent, as if it were of crystal. We were surprised and absorbed, and we didn't say a word to each other.”

“While coming closer to us, the Angel said: ‘Do not fear! I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me.’ And kneeling on the earth, he bent his forehead to the ground and taught us this prayer: ‘My God, I believe in You, I adore You, I hope in You and I love You. I ask pardon for all those who do not believe in You, do not adore You, do not hope in You and do not love You.’

“Prompted by a supernatural movement, we imitated him and repeated the words which we heard him pronounce: ‘My God, I believe in You, I adore You, I hope in You and I love You. I ask pardon for all those who do not believe in You, do not adore You, do not hope in You and do not love You.’”

“Having repeated that prayer three times, he got up again and said to us: Pray in this way. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive to the voice of your supplications.’ And he disappeared.”

Later that same summer, the Angel appeared to the children a second time. They were playing beside a well when the Angel showed up suddenly and asked them what they were doing. Before they could answer, the Angel urged them: “Pray, pray a great deal! The Holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary have designs of mercy on you. Offer unceasingly prayers and sacrifice yourselves to the Most High.”

Lucia asked the Angel how they were supposed to make sacrifices, and the Angel responded: “Make of everything you can a sacrifice and offer it to God as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for the conversion of sinners. In this way, you will draw peace upon your country. I am its guardian angel, the Angel of Portugal. Above all, accept and bear with submission the sufferings which the Lord will send you.”

When recalling the Angel's message years later, Lucia said, “Those words of the Angel engraved themselves into our spirits, as a light which made us understand who God is, how much He loves us and wants to be loved by us, the value of sacrifice and how pleasing it is to Him, and that out of respect for it, God converts sinners.”

The Angel appeared to the children one last time, in the fall of 1916, near the grove of olive trees where he had shown up the first time.

They noticed a bright light appear over their heads. Then, Lucia later recalled: “We got up again to see what was happening, and we saw the Angel again, who had in his left hand a chalice over which was suspended a Host, from which some drops of Blood fell into the chalice.”

As the chalice and Host remained suspended in mid-air, the Angel lay prostrate on the ground near the children and prayed: “Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly, and I offer You the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences by which He, Himself is offended. And I draw upon the infinite merits of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, that You might convert poor sinners.”

Then the Angel placed the Host on Lucia's tongue and served the Blood inside the chalice to both Francisco and Jacinta. After the children had celebrated Communion, the Angel told them: “Eat and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by ungrateful people. Make reparation for their crimes and console your God.”

The Angel laid prostrate on the ground again and repeated the same prayer he had prayed before giving the children Communion. After the Angel had prayed the prayer three times, he disappeared.

The children faithfully prayed as the Angel had taught them for the months leading up to Mary's first appearance to them on May 13, 1917. Mary visited the children on the 13th of every month thereafter until October, when Her last apparition to the three children was accompanied by the Miracle of the Sun, witnessed by a large crowd that was estimated to be greater than 70,000 people.
